MEMPHIS, FAIRFIELD By David Capra
Published on 29 October 2026
FCMG is excited to announce our upcoming exhibition, MEMPHIS, FAIRFIELD by David Capra.
‘Home’ is a familiar word that carries a wealth of meaning. We think we know what it means when we hear it, but what does an artist’s home look like? Nationally acclaimed Fairfield artist David Capra’s home is a repository of creative inspiration, filled with vibrant objects and a diverse art collection shaped by his love of 1980s Italian Memphis Design, a movement that famously rejected minimalism and was described by writer Bertrand Pellegrin as “a shotgun wedding between Bauhaus and Fisher-Price”.
In MEMPHIS, FAIRFIELD audiences are invited into Capra’s world, revealing how the spaces, objects and stories of daily life become the foundation of artistic practice.
Accompanying this exhibition is a suite of public programs and events across Sydney to dive deeper into the world of Memphis design.
