Intern Emilia Stubbs Grigoriou working with Heritage item

FCMG's internship program is proving to be a great success. Our latest intern, Emilia Stubbs Grigoriou, joined us as part of the University of Sydney’s Museum & Heritage Studies Internship Program.

The internship program provides a great opportunity for students to gain experience working with professionals in the museum sector. Interns working with FCMG also provide a valuable service to the local community. In Emilia's case, she was able to work on projects across both the Museum and the Gallery.

"Through my internship I also was given the opportunity to assist with research on collection items, with Heritage Week tours and with the install of the exhibition ‘Who are you wearing?’, which displayed the work of local fashion designers," Emilia wrote, summarising her experience with FCMG.

Perhaps most important, was the work Emilia did on the FCMG's heritage collection. She worked closely with FCMG staff to sort through, curate, preserve and document thousands of items in the Museum's Heritage Collection.

The Museum's Heritage collection is a vast assortment of both physical and electronic resources relating to Fairfield City's history. The collection includes everything from digitised newspaper records to photo galleries to historic objects and more. You can see the Heritage Collection online here.

Emilia's work on the Heritage Collection mainly revolved around the prop collection in our storage compactus, as task which she tackled with passion enthusiasm. You can read the full write-up of Emilia's experience on our Internships page.
