Fairfield Voices is coming
Published on 10 August 2026
FCMG is proud to announce Fairfield Voices, a new two-year creative partnership that will empower First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) artists, writers, and creatives across Western Sydney.
Supported through the NSW Government's Western Sydney Strategic Partnership Program, Fairfield Voices has received $77,000 in funding to deliver a unique program that combines creative skills development, heritage printing practices, community participation, and publishing opportunities.
Led by FCMG in partnership with Think+DO Tank, Sweatshop Literacy Movement, and the Penrith Museum of Printing, the project will create new pathways for emerging and established creatives to develop their practice, share their stories, and connect with local and regional audiences.
At the heart of the project is The Fairfield Voice, a bi-annual newspaper that will showcase original writing and artwork by First Nations and CaLD creatives living and working in Western Sydney. Over two years, four editions will be produced in both print and digital formats, providing a dedicated platform for voices and perspectives that reflect the region's diversity. The project will also deliver six writing and skills development workshops, supporting participants to build confidence, strengthen their creative practice, and work towards publication.
Each edition of the newspaper will feature newly commissioned artwork alongside original creative content. A key component of Fairfield Voices is the activation of the historic The Biz printing presses at FCMG. Working alongside volunteers from the Penrith Museum of Printing, participants will have the opportunity to learn traditional printing techniques through demonstrations and hands-on workshops, while specialist restoration work helps bring the presses back into use.
Through Fairfield Voices, FCMG will continue its commitment to artistic excellence, community engagement and supporting diverse creative voices, ensuring First Nations and CaLD creatives are given meaningful opportunities to develop their skills, present their work and contribute to the cultural life of Western Sydney.
